Back in July, I posted about setting up a new planted tank. I am notoriously bad with plants but decided to give them another try. This time, I received some help.

Interviews are a key component of my blog, and interviewees are a combination of people I know and don’t know. Today’s interviewee falls into the latter category. I learned of Andy Hudson because he was recently on the ballot for a Board of Trustees position with the American Cichlid Association (ACA). I was intrigued by his bio, so I reached out to him.

Because I’m a bit frugal, I’m always looking for opportunities to repurpose something that I no longer use rather than throw it away. Though my success rate at that is probably nominal, every once in a while I do manage to get some great value out of repurposed items. One of these is the little plastic pots that typically come with live aquarium plants. These pots are ribbed, as shown in the photo above.

Back in 2017, I posted about aquarium plants found in Lake Tanganyika that are also sometimes found in the hobby. I made that post for those interested in emulating a Lake Tanganyika biotope.
