Want to know what the bottom of Lake Tanganyika looks like, or parts of it, and see cichlids in their natural habitat? Since most hobbyists will never travel there and experience it firsthand, videos are one of the best alternatives.
There are many videos of the lake on YouTube. However, if you’re on Facebook, I would encourage you to visit Rare African Cichlids. The site’s recent five-minute 4K video shot at Kasanga is fantastic. Kasanga, Tanzania is on the eastern shore of the lake on the very southern end. The video includes some great footage of Tropheus. If you like these fish and want to know more about them, check out my interview with Pam Chin back in 2019.
You can find footage of Lake Malawi on the Facebook site also.
If you’re looking to emulate some portion of the lake bottoms in your tanks, this site will most definitely help you understand what you need.
